2017 COUNTDOWN (#10)

10…9…8…7…6…5…4…3…2…1!

As the countdown to 2017 I’m celebrating by posting my ten favourite tracks for 2016.

These are my personal favourites, and believe me, it was so hard to pick these from all the great tracks that were released this year.

#10 Ngerraberrakernama – Emily Wurramara

Emily Wurramara has had a massive 2016, releasing her debut EP Black Smoke. Both ‘Black Smoke’ and ‘Ngerraberrakernama’ received lots of love from triple j and triple j Unearthed. While I love both of these tracks, ‘Ngerraberrrakernama’ wins it out for me purely by how catchy it is.

If you’re a lucky Queenslander you can see her play at the Woodford Folk Festival on December 27. She’s also heading off to the US in early 2017 to spread her beautiful music there.

Wishing Emily the best of luck with 2017! You’ve more than earned your place as one of the best catches from Unearthed in 2016.

FØRD

FØRD is the latest in a long line of producer wonder-kids turned professional hit-maker. He’s been making waves this year with ‘Folding Hills’ released in May this year and ‘The Pier’ released in September. The former features Xavier Dunn, while the later features Woodes. This guy certainly knows how to get the big names, 2016 being a big year for Woodes too. The latest track this NSW North Coaster has released features Rya Park and I feel it takes things down a notch but it hits all the right notes for me. Check it out here.
